The Express Entry draw on January 19 was the largest PNP that was held to this date.
The Canadian immigration authorities invited 1,036 candidates to apply for Permanent Residency in the Express Entry program. The least required score for this draw was a 745 CRS score. According to the statistics, the IRCC has issued 1,428 ITAs so far in 2022.
The focus of the IRCC has been the program-specific draws since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. But the focus has been on PNP candidates over the last six weeks of Express Entry invitations.
Canadian immigration officials are trying to reduce the number of large applicants waiting in the line of permanent residency. That is the reason invitations for other programs are not taking place. Currently, only the PNP program enables the provinces to respond to the shortage of skilled workers.
The statistics indicate that the IRCC issued 114,431 ITAs for the Express Entry, which is the highest figure since 2015 and the introduction of the program.
What do you know about the Express Entry?
Express Entry is the program that enables people to apply for Permanent Residency through the sub-main economic-class programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The applicants start the process by creating a profile in the system, and they receive a CRS score by the eligibility principles:
- Age
- Education
- Work experience
- Language proficiency
- Education in Canada
- Canadian work experience
In case you are applying with your spouse, he/she also receives a score.
The PNP program is a province-based one and enables them to nominate applicants who have the required skill, talent, education, and work experience. The PNP is to address the shortage of workers in each province.
If you are wondering which provinces use the to attract applicants through the Express Entry and their PNP, the following pens use it:
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- Manitoba
- Nova Scotia
- Ontario
- Prince Edward
- Saskatchewan
The above provinces can take a look at the Express Entry pool of candidates and pick the appropriate one to work in their province.
Provincial nomination provides additional 600 scores in the Express Entry CRS score system. Candidates with the highest score are invited to apply for permanent residency.
When applicants receive an invitation, they need to submit the application to IRCC for final processing. The PR applicants who have waited in line can expect processing within the next six months by IRCC.
