All you should know about France Transit Visa

There are three types of France Transit visa by the entrance

1. A one-way transit visa, which allows one-way transit through a Schengen country;
2. A return Transit visa, which allows returning airport transit through one or two Schengen countries;
3. A multiple Transit visa which allows various transits through one or more Schengen countries.

France Transit Visa Exemptions

You can be a national of the above countries but can be exempt from applying for a France Transit visa. The foreign nationals who don’t need a France Transit visa regardless of their nationality:

• The people who have a diplomatic or service passport.
• Airline crew members who are nationals of a state party to the Chicago Convention;
• Those who have a valid residence permit issued by EU/EEA members;
• The people who have a residence permit issued by the Principality of:

What are the Required Documents for France Transit Visa?

Aside from the general requirements for a France visa, you need these documents to apply for a France Transit Visa:

• Passport. It must:
  
  • Got issued in the past ten years,
  • Valid for more than three months beyond your travel.
  • Have at least two empty pages
  • Undamaged

Get a copy of the passport data page.

• A France short-stay visa application form.
• Two photos.
• The visa of the country you will travel to + a copy.
• A reserved round-trip flight ticket.
• A Cover letter from your employer, in case you are traveling for your work. It should say the reason you travel is related to your business.
• The full travel itinerary
• A cover letter from you if you are traveling for private reasons. It must explain the purpose of your travel.
• If your children or family members live out of your home country, provide a complete list of them.

Requirements for seafarers

• A cover letter from you to explain the purpose of your travel. It must be signed.
• A valid visa/resident permit of the country you will travel to + a copy.
• The documents explaining the purpose of your traveling:
  
  • A letter of appointment. A work contract that shows the ship’s nationality.
  • An invitation letter from a port agent/cruise company in France.
  • A confirmation letter issued from the shipping company that hired the candidate. It must show your travel purpose. (stamped and signed)
  • Your records book as a seafarer.
  • Seafarer’s certificate (valid).

• Former visas in the past three years with entry stamps

  • UK visa
  • Canadian visa
• A medical document that shows your health status. It must show you have no dangerous/transmittable disease that could threaten the public.
