Since November 8, 2021, many of the world’s nations can travel to the U.S. with the abolition of the Travel Ban implemented by Donald Trump’s administration.
The new regulations indicate a general guideline for all countries entering the U.S. However, a new travel ban has been announced due to the COVID-19 Omicron variant pandemic.
Even though the travel ban is lifted, travelers need to take the PCR test to enter the U.S.
The U.S. Federal government requires travelers entering the U.S. to provide:
- A negative PCR or NAAT test one day before starting your journey.
- Or an infection certificate of COVID-19 and recovery.
The children under two years of old and airline crew members are exempt from taking the testing requirement.
What do you need for the negative COVID-19 test?
You need to know the following points when taking a negative Covid-19 test when you want to enter the U.S.:
- It must be a viral Covid test.
- The time of the test does not depend on your vaccination record.
- Everyone requires a test one day before starting the trip.
- The paper or online result does not matter but needs to include the details of the laboratory or testing center.
- The test result must include all the traveler’s information
- name
- date of birth
- country of residence
- passport number
The following words must be written on the test result ;
- “NEGATIVE,”
- “SARS-CoV-2 RNA NOT DETECTED,”
- “SARS-CoV-2 ANTIGEN NOT DETECTED,”
- or “COVID-19 NOT DETECTED.”
What do infected people with Covid-19 need to know?
People who have had Covid-19 before need to provide the following:
- The negative test result must be viral.
- A physicians’ confirmation is required. The data of the issuer is required:
- name,
- address,
- telephone number
- A positive test can not be older than three months and include the following words;
- “POSITIVE,” “SARS-COV-2 RNA DETECTED,”
- “SARS-CoV-2 ANTIGEN DETECTED,”
- or “COVID-19 DETECTED.”
If you can not provide a positive test result within 90 days, you need to provide a negative tests result.

The entry and hygiene requirements could vary by each state and the port of entry you enter through. But the general procedure is as comes follows:
