  • The application should clarify whether the scholar is currently on the alumni rolls of a reputed or recognized educational/research institution. The Association of Indian Universities, the University Grants Commission, and the Human Resource Development Department keep lists of approved Indian universities on their websites.
  • Original letter of admission and certificate of Affiliation of the recognized university
  • Evidence of financial statement in India for the university and living you must submit the applications at an Indian Mission/ Post for processing.
  • Indian Missions and Posts are allowed to issue research visas based on the applications of the applicants, Not including the following areas:

* Teachers, students, scholars, and professors applying from:

  • China
  • Sudan
  • Pakistan
  • Afghanistan
  • Iraq

* National teachers, students, scholars, and professors of Pakistan and Stateless persons.

* Teachers, students, scholars, and professors who work on ‘politically sensitive’ or ‘socially sensitive’ projects.

* Research projects to visit the ‘Protected’ or ‘Restricted’ areas in India.

The research visa will be granted to the conditions above only if accepted by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs. This will only occur if the Government ministries don’t find any concern regarding such applications and the results of their research.
