The new law of entrance to Canada

Due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the IRCC announced that all the passengers who enter Canada need a negative PCR test besides the full vaccination certificate 72 hours before entering Canada.

The passengers need to enter quarantine after entering Canada until the result of the PCR test inside Canada releases.

The US citizens are exempt from the newly introduced law.

Which people are not allowed to enter Canada because of Covid-19?

Since the first of December, the people who have stayed in one of the following countries in the latest 14 days are not allowed to enter Canada:

• Botswana
• Egypt
• Eswatini
• Lesotho
• Malawi
• Mozambique
• Namibia
• Nigeria
• South Africa
• Zimbabwe

The following people need to take a PCR test when they arrive in Canada and enter quarantine and get screened:

Canadian citizens

permanent residents

Indian Act people

The vaccination status and the fact that they have had a history of COVID-19 in the last 14 days does not matter, and the rule applies to them. It is true if they had been in one of the countries mentioned above during the past two weeks.

Anyone who enters Canada exempt from the US departure points will be subject to tests and screens. Vaccinated people need to stay in quarantine until the result of the PCR test becomes available.

If you are unvaccinated and want to travel to Canada, you still need the on-arrival testing. You also need to take another PCR test on day 8 and a 14-day quarantine in accommodation designated in advance.
