The first draw of PNP in 2022

On January 5, 2022, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 392 candidates in the Express Entry program to apply for Permanent Residency.

In this new draw which was the first one held in 2022, only the PNP applicants (Provincial Nominee Program) were invited.

The required CRS score for this draw was an 808 score to receive an invitation. The point to consider is that the Express Entry adds 600 points to the PNP candidates when they get the nomination. That is the reason why the PNP draw score requires a higher minimum score from applicants compared to other available invitation rounds.

In 2021, IRCC only invited the CEC and PNP candidates. On September 14, 2021, the last CEC draw was held. The conducted draws since then have been focusing on the PNP program. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions, the Federal government of Canada faces a significant amount of applications for PNP draw and PRs. They try to answer the need of provinces and territories labor market needs.

In 2021, the IRCC issued 114,431 Invitations to Apply to applicants, which is the highest figure since the introduction of Express Entry in 2015.

What are the CRS scores based on?

Express entry is the main immigration program in Canada. If you are eligible for it, you create an account on the IRCC website and upload your documents. You receive a CRS score by your conditions such as:

  • age
  • work experience
  • education
  • language proficiency
  • The skill you have

The IRCC conducts a draw about every two weeks and invites the candidates to apply for PR.
