Visa Processing time

Are you looking for a developed country to invest in and continue living there? Belgium is a great option with many benefits. Words fail to describe the benefits and features of living in Belgium. You just need a Belgium investor visa and this article provides you with whatever you need to know.

What is a Belgium investor visa?

The kingdom of Belgium provides residency by investment to non-EU nationals. You invest s particular amount of money in the country and can move to Belgium with your family.

The Belgium government evaluates the case and decides whether to grant a visa or not. When they agree, applicants can move to the country and live as long as they have the conditions.

The point to remember is that Belgium doesn’t offer you citizenship by investment, but residency. You can live in the country under Permanent Residency and after five years, you can apply for citizenship.

Belgium investor visa eligibility principles

The list of eligibility principles is as follows:

  • Have at least €300,000
  • Clean record certificate
  • Being able to visit Belgium
  • Relevant business experience.
  • Find a business or company to invest in.

Can you invest in real estate?

No. The program doesn’t allow you to invest in real estate. It requires applicants to invest in active businesses that create jobs.

Belgium investor visa requirements

The list of common requirements si as follows but you might have to submit further documents:

  • Proof of residency
  • Valid passport
  • Proof to have enough requirements funds.
  • Medical certificate
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of family relationship
    • Marriage certificate
    • Birth certificates of children
  • Vaccination certificate
  • Clean record certificate

Note; The list of documents is not complete and the Belgium embassy requires further documents. Ask them in advance about the list and prepare whatever they require.

Belgium investor visa application

The way you need to apply for an investment program is what comes here. However, you might have to go through a bit different procedure by the country you live in or your case:

Step 1. Get a Belgium short-stay visa

The first step is to get a Belgium short-stay visa or a tourist visa. You need to visit the country and make an investment in Belgium.

A few countries do not need a Belgium tourist visa; the US, South Korea, Kapan, Israel, etc. are among them. If you are on this list, you do not have to apply for a visa. You can stay in Belgium for 90 days and it gives you enough time to complete the procedures.

Step 2. Gather the requirements

There is a list of requirements for supporting documents you need to collect. See the section above to know what are they.

Collect all of them and submit them to the Belgium embassy at the visa meeting.

Bear in mind that the embassy could require further documents and you have to obey and submit whatever they require.

Step 3. Make the investment in Belgium

You need to move to Belgium and register your company in the country. If you are going to invest in a current company, negotiate with them and close the deal.

The process takes time and you would better get advice from a lawyer or expert in the field. When you make the investment and transfer the money into Belgium, the officials begin your application process.

Finally, you can move to Belgium with your family and live for the duration of your stay. The investor visa is valid for one year but you can extend it every year. Then you can apply for citizenship.
