A residence permit to work in Portugal

If you want to join your family member in Portugal, you need a family residence permit. The family member is as follows:

  • Spouse or law partner

  • An adult child but dependent on a Portuguese resident.
  • A descendant who relies on Portuguese resident

The permit is valid as long as the sponsor living in Portugal can live in the country. The applicant has the authorization to renew the permit, work and study in the country freely. When living in the country for five years, the applicant becomes qualified for a permanent residence permit. It enables you to live in the country indefinitely.

Special residence permit

  • Applicants suffering from a health condition requiring long medical care.
  • People who have completed military service in the Portuguese Armed Forces.

The Portugal residence permit requirements are up to the purpose of your residency, nationality, and particular case. But a few common ones are as follows:

  • Proof of accommodation.
