Sending invitations for FSWP and CEC was stopped during the Covid-19 pandemic. But Sean Fraser, Canada’s immigration minister, has announced that IRCC will begin sending invitations in “early July.”
That was not the only news. Fraser also mentioned that the “IRCC will offer work permits for up to 18 months to PGWP holders”.
The announcement held some valuable information regarding Canada visa application process. One of them was about the Express Entry processing time. IRCC will try to process the applications in standard six months. The current processing time is about 20 months, a tedious process.
People whose PGWP will expire in January -December 2022 will be eligible for another open work permit for 18 months. The new rule will be implemented this summer. According to IRCC data, 95,000 PGWPs will be expired in 2022, and about 50,000 PGWP holders will benefit from it.
Also, for applicants who apply for a work permit and wait for their PR application, their work permit will be valid until 2024. It will guarantee that applicants’ PR will be decided on before they have to extend their temporary residence.
Immediate family members who are in a principal applicant’s PR application outside of Canada can apply for their own work permit.
