Who Can Apply for a Malaysia eVisa?

As mentioned, only certain countries are eligible to apply for a Malaysia visa online. The citizens of the countries below are among those lucky few:

These nationals can apply for a Malaysian eVisa even if they are not currently located in their origin country. Obtaining a Malaysia eVisa is possible from anywhere in the world except Malaysia and Singapore.

What are the Required Documents for a Malaysia e-Visa?

To apply for a Malaysia online visa, applicants have to scan all the required documents and then upload them. Therefore, accessing a scanner is somewhat a necessity for applicants.   • A picture ( must be passport-size and based on Malaysia photo requirements.)

How to Apply for a Malaysia eVisa?

Obtaining a Malaysia eVisa includes going through the following steps. Applicants have to:

  • Access the online visa website.
  • Submit their information.
  • Confirm their information.
  • Submit the requirements.
  • Wait for processing.

Access the Online Visa Website

Applicants must apply for their eVisas by accessing the online visa application webpage. They must start their process at least two weeks before they travel to Malaysia.

When the website is loaded, and applicants have access to it, they have to click on the “I’m New” icon to go to the Registration page.

Submit the Information

On the Registration page, applications must insert their required information. This information includes personal data, such as

  • Name
  • Nationality
  • Email address
  • Gender

Confirm the Information

If the registration is over, applicants will receive a confirmation email that includes a link. They must click to complete the registration process.

Submit the Requirements

At this step, applicants must log back into their account to complete the eVisa application. Then, the required documents must be submitted via the Returning User feature.

Wait for processing

When the application process is finished and the documents are submitted, Malaysian authorities start processing eVisa applications within 48 hours. In case the process falls on non-working days, such as weekends or public holidays, the process might take longer.

In addition, some problems with the online application might come up, such as crashes or maintenance. In these cases, the processing time for the Malaysia eVisa might take longer and be delayed.

How Many Malaysia eVisas Can I Apply With One Account?

A person can submit up to five applications at a time if they are applying for their children or other dependents.

How Can I Receive the Malaysia eVisa?

When a Malaysian eVisa is approved, The visa will be sent to you via email. Receive it and print it on an A4 page. You must bring your eVisa with you when you travel to Malaysia. If you arrive at a Malaysian port of entry with a digital copy of the visa (such as on your phone or laptop), the Immigration Officer will accept it as well. However, it is recommended to have a printed copy just in case.

How Long is the Malaysia eVisa Valid?

A Malaysia eVisa has validity for three months. However, it only allows its holders to stay in the country only up to 30 days.

Currently, 2 types of visas are available for Indian nationals: Single Entry Visas and Multiple Entry Visas. On the other hand, Nationals of other countries eligible for the Malaysian eVisa except for India are allowed to apply for a Single Entry Visa and stay up to 30 days in the country.

Note: A Malaysian eVisa cannot be extended.

What is a Malaysia eNTRI Visa?

Electronic Travel Registration and Information, also known as eNTRI, is an online registration service. This service is only available for the citizens of China and India.

By using eNTRI Malaysia, passport holders from these two countries can enter Malaysia more easily under the Visa Waiver Program.

Who Can Apply for a Malaysia eNTRI Visa?

As mentioned, citizens of India and China are eligible for an eNTRI visa. However, keep in mind that only mainland Chinese citizens are eligible. Citizens of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are excluded.

Obtaining a Malaysia eNTRI is possible from anywhere in the world except Malaysia and Singapore.

How Can I Apply for a Malaysia eNTRI Visa?

To make an application for a Malaysia eNTRI visa, applicants have to go through the following steps. Applicants have to:

  • Access the online visa website.
  • Create an account.
  • Print the eNTRI Note.

Access the Online Visa Website 

Applicants have to visit the Malaysia eNTRI visa application website and submit their application requests.

Create an Account

Applicants must create a new account by clicking on the “I’m New” option. After that, they are redirected to the registration page. Then, they need to fill the form with their information.

Print the eNTRI Note

After the registration process is finished, applicants must print the eNTRI Note. This Note allows travelers to go to Malaysia because it serves as a visa.

However, eNTRI visa is a little different from the Malaysian eVisa. It’s not possible to apply for an eNTRI at any given time. Applicants must wait at least three months from their last visit to Malaysia with an eNTRI before they can apply for it again.

What are the Airports for an eNTRI Visa?

If traveling by air, applicants who hold Malaysia eNTRI visas can enter by one of the following airports:

If travelling by land, applicants who hold Malaysia eNTRI visas can enter by one of the following check points:

  • Bukit Kayu Hitam Checkpoint, Kedah
  • Padang Besar Checkpoint, Perlis
  • Sultan Abu Bakar Checkpoint, Johor
  • Sultan Iskandar Building Immigration Checkpoint, Johor
  • Sungai Tujuh Immigration Checkpoint, Sarawak
  • Tedungan Immigration Checkpoint, Sarawak

How Long is a Malaysia eNTRI Visa Valid?

A Malaysia eNTRI visa only allows applicants to stay for up to 15 days. This visa is like a single entry visa meaning you can only enter Malaysia once. It is not possible to request an extension for an eNTRI visa.

If an applicant decides to stay in the country for more than 15 days, they will have to apply for a Malaysian eVisa.

Can I Enter Malaysia With a Malaysian Online Visa?

No. Like any other visa, Malaysia online visas do not guarantee entry to Malaysia. A valid online visa allows holders to travel to Malaysia and present themselves at the point of entry to Immigration Officers. Then, The Immigration Officers will decide if the traveler is eligible to enter the country or not. The traveler’s passport will be stamped with a stamp indicating the number of days you are allowed to stay if permission has been granted.

What Should I Do After I Arrive in Malaysia?

Upon arrival in Malaysia, travelers must go through border control at the point of entry, where the Immigration officers will ask for the following documents:

  • An eVisa or eNTRI print.
  • The traveler’s boarding pass.
  • A valid passport.
  • A hotel reservation or any other evidence of accommodation.
  • A reserved round-trip flight ticket.
  • Adequate assets to cover the duration of stay.

Malaysia online visas, such as eVisa and eNTRI are available for the citizens of certain countries. Applicants of online visas are able to make their applications anywhere in the world. These visas are easy to apply for; however, they are not extendable.
